7.1 Trace for a certain period of time

    trace - running the trace daemon

SYNOPSIS

    trace  Seconds OutFile

DESCRIPTION

    Note for embedded Linux users: This script is run on the target system.

    This will run tracedaemon for the given number of seconds and will set the output files to be OutFile.trace and OutFile.proc.

7.2 Trace core events for a certain period of time

    tracecore - running the trace daemon while recording core events

SYNOPSIS

    tracecore  Seconds OutFile

DESCRIPTION

    Note for embedded Linux users: This script is run on the target system.

    This will run tracedaemon for the given number of seconds and will set the output files to be OutFile.trace and OutFile.proc. Contrary to the previous command, it will only record core events.

7.3 Trace for a certain period of time while recording the CPUID

    tracecpuid - running the trace daemon while recording the CPUID

SYNOPSIS

    tracecpuid  Seconds OutFile

DESCRIPTION

    Note for embedded Linux users: This script is run on the target system.

    This will run tracedaemon for the given number of seconds and will set the output files to be OutFile.trace and OutFile.proc. It sets the -c option of tracedaemon.

7.4 Trace for an unlimited period of time

SYNOPSIS

    traceu  OutFile

DESCRIPTION

    Note for embedded Linux users: This script is run on the target system.

    This will run tracedaemon for an unlimited period of time and will set the output files to be OutFile.trace and OutFile.proc.

7.5 Dump the trace in a human-readable format

SYNOPSIS

    tracedump  File

DESCRIPTION

    Note for embedded Linux users: This script is run on the host system.

    This will run tracevisualizer using File.trace and File.proc as input and File.data as output.

7.6 Dump the core events of the trace in a human-readable format

    tracedcore - running the trace decoder

SYNOPSIS

    tracedcore  File

DESCRIPTION

    Note for embedded Linux users: This script is run on the host system.

    This will run tracevisualizer using File.trace and File.proc as input and File.data as output while only outputting the core kernel events.

7.7 Analyze a trace

NAME

    traceanalyze - running the trace decoder while analyzing it

SYNOPSIS

    traceanalyze  File

DESCRIPTION

    Note for embedded Linux users: This script is run on the host system.

    This will run tracevisualizer using File.trace and File.proc as input and File.data as output. Moreover, it uses the -a option of tracevisualizer to analyze the content of the trace and uses -s to summarize the analysis.

7.8 View trace graphically

    traceview - running the decoder in graphical mode

SYNOPSIS

    traceview  File

DESCRIPTION

    Note for embedded Linux users: This script is run on the host system.

    This will run tracevisualizer using File.trace and File.proc as input. Moreover, it uses the -g option of tracevisualizer to set the tracevisualizer to run in graphic mode.
